The Recipes
Mains
You can eat what you want when you want - breakfast foods for dinner or leftovers for breakfast. You can eat the same thing three days in a row or prefer something different every day of the week. My husband insists on a "day of rest" between eating something for the first time and eating the leftovers.
I can tell you from working in a grocery store for 10 years that most people eat the same thing, more or less, every week. Yes, people really do have Taco Tuesday, Deli Thursday, and Fish Friday. No judgement. It's just the way they feed themselves and their families. Still, most Americans eat their bigger meal in the late afternoon or evening - we usually eat at 7pm after the news, but sometimes prefer what we call "Linner," the biggest meal of the day around 4 pm. Then we have something light later in the evening. Which brings us to this category - Mains - which are typically the protein part of a meal. I have recipes here for poultry, fish, beef, and vegetarian meals. When we think about what to make for dinner, we tend to think about the Main first. The most important thing when deciding on dinner is to make sure your kitchen is stocked. I literally wrote a whole book about this - STOCKED: Staples and Flavor Bombs for Your Kitchen. I don't want to hit you over the head with it, but if you don't have ingredients in the house, deciding on and preparing a quick, healthful meal is much more difficult and honestly, unlikely to happen. |
